New year, and potentially a new career as a Kumon franchisee
10 Jan 2022
As the New Year brings changes for all, you might consider becoming a Kumon franchisee as your next career step. Owning your own Kumon centre is the perfect opportunity for people who love working with children, their community, and who want to make a difference. Our aim for 2022 is to open a range of new Kumon franchises, operating from high-profile commercial premises and open four days a week. Generous subsidies are available for the right person. While there is a lot of work involved in running your own Kumon centre, it provides flexibility—as franchisees can decide their own schedule around family and other commitments—and it provides stability, with intensive support provided by the branch and head offices. Ynna McDonald, franchisee of Kumon St Marys Education Centre in Sydney, says the stability and office support of Kumon was on display throughout the pandemic. “I took over Kumon St Marys at a difficult time when COVID-19 started. The branch office was always constantly checking up on how things are going and if I was struggling with certain things, they were always trying to provide strategies to help”, Ynna says. “They helped me with trying to make it easier and try to make things more efficient. There has been a very huge amount of support since I took over, and they're still there to be supportive”. Furthermore, at the time of writing, no Kumon franchise in Australia and New Zealand has permanently closed due to COVID-19. This meant Kumon provided continuity for student’s learning while families experienced school disruptions. Ynna believes that a Kumon franchise is an opportunity that those who are passionate about children’s education should consider. “It's a rewarding role, it's something that you feel satisfied doing and it's something that I'm happy to do every day”, she says. “If you're passionate about working with kids and education, becoming a Kumon franchisee is something that you could go for”.
